Cancer is a disease that is caused by the rapid uncontrollable growth of cells. Unlike other diseases, there are several different types of cancer that can develop in the human body. The development of cancer may be caused by genetics, environmental factors, or both. Cancer has been a disease for thousands of years, yet only in the last few hundred years, have people had an understanding of what it entails. Since the turn of the twentieth century, the rates of cancer have exponentially increased. Our group researched different types of cancer in England in the twentieth century. We explored the causes, treatments, and health initiatives taken by the Medical Officers of Health for Skin Cancer, Breast Cancer, Rectal Cancer, Lung Cancer, Brain Cancer, and Stomach and Intestinal Cancer.
